The day after the election, all the pompous declarations about raising standards were forgotten; today the moral revolution has the face of Włodzimierz Karpiński; The new rules and standards that PO and Third Way politicians talked about will ensure impunity – PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek said on Wednesday.
Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia announced on Wednesday that he had signed documents informing three people of their priority in accepting a mandate in the European Parliament. This contains: about Włodzimierz Karpiński. The former secretary of the Warsaw City Hall and former minister in the PO-PSL government has been in custody since February. He was arrested in connection with the so-called waste scandal. He heard allegations of corruption related to the conclusion of waste management contracts in Warsaw.
Bochenek referred to the procedure for accepting the mandate of a Member of the European Parliament and the decisions taken by the new President of the Sejm.
They baselessly accuse PiS politicians of honor and faith, and their people with serious accusations and suspicions are given parliamentary immunity or released from prison.
– noted the PiS spokesperson.
Today’s moral revolution has the face of Karpiński
– he declared.
These new rules and norms that Platform and Third Way politicians talked about ensure impunity and implement the Neumann Doctrine, which meant that if you are part of their political system, you are protected.
– emphasized Bochenek.
The best symbol of this is today’s decision by Marshal Hołownia. The day after the election, all the pompous statements about raising standards were forgotten. This decision casts a shadow over Hołownia and exposes its true political intentions. It shows that Hołownia is not a new quality in public life, and that its actions are aimed at strengthening the old system, including the one related to PO, by ensuring impunity for those who face serious allegations of corruption.
– says Bochenek.
Karpiński stood as a candidate of the European Coalition in the 2019 European Parliament elections. However, he did not receive a mandate as a member of the European Parliament. The MEP from this list was Krzysztof Hetman, who won and took over a seat in the Polish Sejm in October this year. Joanna Mucha should have been elected to the European Parliament under Hetman, but she was also elected as an MP. The next eligible to become a MEP would be Riad Haidar, but the politician died in May this year. Therefore, the EP mandate goes to the next candidate: Włodzimierz Karpiński.
In accordance with the Electoral Law, the Marshal of the Sejm, on the basis of information from the National Electoral Commission, informs the next candidate from the same list of candidates who received the highest number of votes in the election of his or her priority for a seat in the European Parliament to replace the person whose mandate has expired.
The declaration of acceptance of the mandate by the candidate to the European Parliament must be submitted within seven days of the date of receipt of the notification. If you do not submit the application within this period, this means that you forego priority in filling the seat.
Commentary from the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Włodzimierz Karpiński should resign from all public positions and the charges against him should be assessed by the court, the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry, Paweł Jabłoński, said on Wednesday. According to him, Karpiński should not represent Poland in the international arena.

A man facing very serious allegations of corruption where the court, and not the public prosecutor’s office, but the court ruled that the probability of committing a crime was very high – he had to say it, otherwise he would not have arrested him – takes on a mandate and will represent Poland in the European Parliament, then I think this clearly shows what the rule of law really means for these people
– Jabłoński told this to journalists in the Sejm on Wednesday.
According to him, Karpiński should resign from all public positions and the charges against him should be assessed by the court.
He is not allowed to represent Poland in the international arena
– added the Deputy Minister.
