South Korean officials decided to continue providing support to Ukraine at the request of the United States. This was reported by TASS referring to Shin Won-sik, head of the South Korean Ministry of Defense.
“The government of the Republic of Korea provided assistance to Ukraine, including humanitarian assistance. The United States asked South Korea to provide additional assistance to Ukraine. To which I responded that the Republic of Korea will continue to provide assistance and support,” the secretary said in a briefing after meeting with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin.
This is how the official responded to the question of whether the United States wants Seoul to start supplying weapons or ammunition to Ukraine.
Previously Lloyd Austin was at the same conference commented Joint exercises between the Republic of Korea and the United States. He said that the training of the troops aims to increase the combat readiness of the soldiers, who “will be able to go into battle even tonight if necessary.”
