Krzysztof Gawkowski was re-elected as head of the left-wing club, Marcelina Zawisza as deputy head and Dariusz Wieczorek as club secretary. Such decisions were made on Sunday. The left also recommended Włodzimierz Czarzasty as deputy chairman of the Sejm, and Magdalena Biejat as deputy chairman of the Senate.
The Left Club meeting lasted more than three hours on Sunday evening and focused on the election of a new presidency and the adoption of new regulations before the first meeting of the Sejm and the Senate on Monday.
According to Krzysztof Gawkowski, in the new parliamentary term the club will be formed by four parties: New Left, Razem, Polish Socialist Party and Workers’ Union.
A presidency of three people
In addition, the club elected a three-person presidency, including Gawkowski as head of the club, Marcelina Zawisza as vice-president and Dariusz Wieczorek, who became the club’s secretary.
As Gawkowski emphasized, all members of the Presidium received the maximum number of votes during the vote and the parties confirmed their willingness to continue cooperation.

The parliamentary club has recommended a candidate for the members of the presidium of both chambers. Today these recommendations were received by: Magdalena Biejat, co-chair of the Razem Party, as deputy chairman of the Senate, and Włodzimierz Czarzasty, co-chair of the New Left, received a recommendation for deputy chairman of the Sejm.

Cooperation with the opposition
The head of the club emphasized that his faction in the new parliament wants cooperation with other forces that formed the opposition during the past legislature.
Cooperation in social policy, the fight for women’s rights, building a democratic state, the rule of law, issues related to housing construction, openness to cooperation with the European Union
– the said politician.
In the coming parliamentary term, the left-wing club will consist of 26 parliamentarians and 9 senators.
