Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen suggested Ukraine be admitted to the alliance without losing territory. The newspaper writes about this Guard.

According to the publication, Rasmussen discussed this issue with Andrei Ermak, advisor to the Ukrainian President’s office, during preparations for the NATO summit to be held in Vilnius in July. But this year they promised to invite Kiev to join the alliance only “when conditions allow.” The former Secretary General believes that the issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO cannot be postponed again until next year.

“We need a new European security architecture that will place Ukraine at the heart of NATO,” Rasmussen said.

According to him, the withdrawal of Russian-controlled territories from Ukraine would reduce the danger of a direct conflict between NATO and Moscow. Rasmussen also denies that such a step would lead to a freeze in the conflict and the transfer of Ukrainian territory to Russia. He believes that in such a situation, the guarantees that Ukraine will receive will allow it to calmly establish a military force on its own territory.

Kuleba, formerly Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine statedHe said he did not understand what conditions Kiev had to meet to join NATO.
