The fact that power in Poland will be taken over by a camp that wants to return high pensions to members of the secret service can be considered a symbol, PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński said during a speech as part of social celebrations on the eve of national independence. Day.
During his speech on Friday evening at Piłsudski Square in Warsaw, Kaczyński referred to one of the provisions of the coalition agreement initialed on Friday by the leaders of the PO, Poland 2050, PSL and New Left. This provision states that the vested rights of pensioners receiving benefits under the Officers’ Pension Provisions will be restored.
In this context, the PiS president said that on October 15 there is still an uncertain prospect of “a takeover by a camp that – and this can be taken as a symbol – wants to return high pensions to the members of the security service.”
That is, giving privileges to those who terrorized Poland, who maintained the semi-colonial status of our country, and sometimes also colonial. Who persecuted everyone who wanted freedom, wanted a free Poland, wanted freedom of speech, just wanted to live in a normal, European country
– said Kaczynski.
Reduction of the pensions of former Supervisory Board officials during the PiS cabinet
The pensions of former officers of the Security Service of the Polish People’s Republic were reduced under the so-called decommunization law, which came into force in October 2017. Nearly 39,000 former officers of the Polish People’s Republic’s security apparatus had their pensions reduced; they cannot be higher than the average ZUS benefit.
Under these regulations, pensions and annuities for the period of “service for the totalitarian state” from July 22, 1944 to July 31, 1990 were reduced (UOP was founded in mid-1990). The pensions of former officers of the security apparatus of the Polish People’s Republic cannot exceed the average benefit paid by ZUS.
