Katarzyna Lubnauer of the Civic Coalition said in an interview for “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” that “education is close to the hearts of every group” and that the opposition has “a common vision”. At the very beginning of the conversation, the MP stated that in authorizing the conversation she would “remove things that would threaten the building of the coalition.” So what’s left?
Opposition “to-do list”.
Asked whether the opposition’s education plan should be anti-Czarnek, Lubnauer said she “stands by her opinion.” She also stated that a “greater plague” than Przemysław Czarnek was his predecessor Anna Zalewska and her “structural changes”, because Czarnek’s “ideological spirits” would be “easily expelled from schools”.
The opposition MP said the “list of tasks” to be completed after taking over the Ministry of Education will be long, citing financial issues as an example. According to Lubnauer, “Minister Czarnek was handing out departmental money left and right,” and the MEiN itself “doesn’t even know from which sources it should be financed.”
Maybe it will introduce NIK inspections, but maybe they don’t have enough inspectors given the number of PiS scandals
– said a representative of the Civic Coalition.
The opposition wants to ‘fix’ education
When asked about plans for education, Lubnauer said that as a result of Anna Zalewska’s reforms in schools, students do not have equal opportunities, there is a “plague of tutoring”, there is a shortage of teachers and students are “on the run”. away” from public schools. She also presented her “original idea”.
My original idea to change this is to introduce a flexible school structure. (…) Zalewska’s reform fragmented the network and increased the level differences
– said Lubnauer.
She added that the opposition is proposing “downsizing the programs and moving away from homework” because “learning should take place in school.” In her opinion, everything will be helped by making one change at school so that the student can get help at school after classes and “go home to rest.”
Interestingly, according to Lubnauer, these changes will also be helped by “moving religion to the time after classes,” as it will supposedly “make it easier to plan other classes.” Lubnauer added that the religion grade should be removed from the certificate, and that changes could be introduced through regular regulations – just like changes to the core curriculum. When Lubnauer pointed out that this would be the third change in ten years, he responded that the changes introduced by Anna Zalewska did not improve quality.
When asked about the “Laptop for a Student” program, Lubnauer said that students should be given tablets with internet, and that “the equipment itself will not modernize Polish schools” because programs are needed that take into account usage of modern technologies. She also added that non-governmental organizations would return to schools, but there would be no place for organizations “like ONR”. However, there can be such a place for LGBT organizations because ‘every child should feel safe at school, including LGBT youth’.
However, we can lighten the backpack and have every textbook its electronic equivalent, eliminate HiT and return to teaching WOS, by 30%. increasing teacher salaries starting January 1, 2024. Start slimming down your core curriculum. These are details
– replied Lubnauer, adding that KO does not want to make an “ideological turn” in schools, but wants “the school to have more autonomy, the teacher to have a greater right to decide how to teach, and for the students to have greater autonomy “greater influence on the school.”
Noting that many changes require laws that the president can block and the fact that the president’s decision becomes an excuse for the opposition, Lubnaier said that based on past experience “his decisions cannot be predicted in advance.”
