Moldovan President Maia Sandu called on the governments of European Union (EU) member countries to initiate negotiations with the republic for membership in the association. “We choose to be free. We call on all EU governments to support our choice and the opening of negotiations with the Republic of Moldova, to support our struggle to become truly independent and our desire to become part of the European family,” Sandu said.
