Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk has warned that the country’s new government may refuse to seek reparations from Germany for destruction during the Second World War “for the sake of beads”. This was reported by RMF FM.
“I’m afraid [кандидат от оппозиции на должность премьера Дональд] “Tusk will sell the issue of compensation for beads and close the issue of compensation forever in exchange for small sums of money for survivors,” Mularczyk said.
He stated that these would not be compensation but “some form of compensation for a small group of living people.”
According to him, Tusk could go in this direction, but there are reports indicating the amounts that Warsaw has the right to demand from Berlin for damages incurred during the war.
Sejm elections were held in Poland on October 15. The ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party won. He received 35.4% of the vote, but lost his parliamentary majority and can count on only 194 of 460 seats. At the same time, the opposition parties – Civic Coalition (CC), Third Way and Left – will receive 248 seats in total, with around 54% of the votes. The nationalist and Eurosceptic Confederation party will get 18 seats in the Sejm; does not want to enter into a coalition with other groups.
After the results are announced, the Polish president must choose the prime minister who will form the government. Then the parliamentary majority must approve the new composition.
