There is no coalition agreement yet, but that has not stopped the opposition from urging President Andrzej Duda to appoint Donald Tusk as prime minister and to share the positions in the government. Various statements are made by politicians who are expected to form a majority coalition. Now Szymon Hołownia has added his voice and said in an interview on “Super Express” that work is being done on a coalition agreement, which will consist of ten to “small dozens” of pages.
Has the opposition already divided its positions?
When Hołownia was asked if he would be the chairman of the Sejm, he said this would be revealed on November 13. He added that “the Sejm must be changed.”
I don’t know if I will have the honor to take on this responsibility, but the Sejm must be symbolically opened after the PiS era, ventilated, opened to new people, free journalists. It should be a nice place for good meetings and reaching compromises. (…) It will not be an easy term, but we certainly need a new spirit, new thinking and civic DNA in politics. I think this is the specialty of the entire Poland 2050 movement. (…) We will decide together who will become the chairman of the Senate and the Sejm.
– said Hołownia.
When asked about the words of Robert Biedroń (New Left), who said that the distribution of positions in the new government had been “largely” already determined, Hołownia replied that Biedroń had made a leap forward.
Such statements or speeches do not help matters. This is a very delicate and complex process that requires time and thought
– he pointed out. He added that they would talk to Biedroń about what he had in mind and that the whole plan they had to come up with had not yet been finalized.
We must share this responsibility
– added.

Coalition agreement
When asked whether they had many ‘flash points’ in reaching a coalition agreement, he replied that it was more or less as he expected.
We know full well that we have to get along, and we will
– he declared.
Referring to the coalition agreement, he emphasized that they wanted to include specific ‘milestones’ that they had promised to voters. He said these include matters covered by the Twelve Guarantees of the Third Way.
Issues related to the immediate improvement of the situation of entrepreneurs, return to the old scheme of ZUS contributions from before the Polish Order, cash VAT, (…) issues related to education
– he mentioned. He added that it also includes downsizing the core curriculum and pay increases for teachers.
When asked how many pages the coalition agreement would have, he replied that it would be “ten to several dozen pages.”
These teams already started working yesterday
– he remembered. He added that initial reports of the team’s work show that the work is going very well.

Hołownia accuses PiS of “stealing time”
Hołownia also did not like that the president – in his opinion – postponed the moment of appointing the person to whom he would entrust the mission of forming a new government.
Let them completely disgrace themselves. They need these two months for this. Now they say they lost, but they will buy some MPs, there will be nepotism and everything will be fine. They make fun of themselves. They themselves talk about tools that do not meet all standards. This is the good change that Poles voted for. (…) They will waste our time. We could change things today at the Ministry of Health
– Hołownia smoked.
Pointing out that no one goes beyond the constitutional framework, the new MP responded that in 2015 the term could have been shortened and the Prime Minister could have been appointed more quickly.
I don’t understand the president’s argument about shortening the Sejm’s term of office. Will the Sejm now hold a meeting or do something? For me this is empty time. Why does he say that he will not shorten the term of the Sejm if the Sejm does not work?
- Hołownia stated.
This is wasting our time. We can’t afford to let them end up robbing us of our time. They want to completely discredit themselves. Morawiecki must tell the story so that the parliamentarians do not escape him
– the MP-elect was heated.
Abortion outside coalition agreement?
When asked about the liberalization of abortion law, he assured that this would not be part of the coalition agreement.
We, as the Third Way, have been honest about our position from the very beginning. People voted for us because they knew this. We will remain true to what we promised our voters. First of all, there will be a change in the Ministry of Health, a complete change in the approach to this subject using the regulations of the Ministry of Health, using the guidelines of the National Health Fund; whatever can be done immediately will be done. It will be better to re-adopt the law that (PiS President Jarosław) Kaczyński and (Julia, President of the Constitutional Tribunal) Przyłębska overthrew and immediately hold a nationwide referendum, which – we know the vote – we probably know how it will end, but with a strong mandate
– said Hołownia.
Changes in public media
Hołownia argued that public media must be reformed quickly.
Much can be done without changing existing laws, on the basis of current existing legislation and with a parliamentary majority
– he assessed. According to him, “public media – in the form that they exist – is “the biggest poison gland bred in this part of the world.” As he added: “Today we must ensure that (the public media) is not the center of party propaganda.”
This is built in times of peace. Today you have to go in and fix what can be fixed. Today we must ensure that it does not become a center of party propaganda, that people who really know what journalistic ethos is work there, and that we provide funding.
– said Hołownia.
Referring to the National Media Council’s statement, Hołownia mocked that he was “very afraid of it.”
Please do not frighten me, but examine your conscience. Parliament also has influence over the National Media Council and is likely to use this influence. We will try to make the norms of breaking the law and ethics a thing of the past
– said Hołownia.
