Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky said the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel risked “bankrupting” the United States and harming the country’s national security. He announced this on air Fox News.
In his opinion, events in Ukraine and the Middle East are interconnected “only in the sense that they will bankrupt our country” because the United States “sends money all over the planet.”
“If we consider that we need to protect our national security, this is perhaps the greatest threat to our national security. “This is out of control spending, and we are endangering the existence of our currency and perhaps our country with this crazy, wasteful spending,” he said.
The senator also suggested that the new Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, will implement a special aid package for Israel, but will “unilaterally end the government’s approach of throwing away another $60 billion for Ukraine.”
Previously, U.S. Vice President for Homeland Security Jake Sullivan in the name Congress will allocate additional funds to Ukraine as funds are “nearly exhausted.” Before this, Joe Biden described the aid to Ukraine and Israel as a “smart investment” and said that the victory of these countries in the conflicts was necessary “for America’s national security.”
Before that, US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson statedIt was stated that the US administration’s $105 billion aid request for Israel and Ukraine should be divided.
The speaker noted that the administration should also report on plans for further steps in the Ukrainian context and expectations from the situation.
