Opposition politicians are increasing their pressure on the president to appoint Donald Tusk as prime minister as soon as possible. “After 1989, after the elections, Jaruzelski was well aware that people had had enough of the communists, but he entrusted the mission of forming the government to Kiszczak. So that the president does not follow the same path,” KO MP Paweł Kowal said in an interview with TVN24. Interestingly, he noted that he also said this “as a historian.”
“So that the president does not follow the same path.”
Opposition politicians are already confident of their victory and declare their willingness to form a government consisting of KO, Third Way and Left. On this occasion, they were kind enough to remind us how much today depends on the decision of President Andrzej Duda, but many of them are trying to convince the Head of State to appoint Donald Tusk as Prime Minister as soon as possible, so to speak : mild, original way.
KO MP Paweł Kowal used historical comparisons in an interview with TVN24. During the ‘One on One’ programme, journalist Marcin Zaborski from the channel asked the politician about the words of ‘one of the PiS parliamentarians’ that ‘the president would prevent Donald Tusk from becoming prime minister of the new government’.
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again as a historian. The president has a chance to meet Poland’s expectations. Poles want political change, and the president is a servant of Poland, not his rule, nor Jaruzelski, who can do whatever he wants
– Kowal emphasized.
The opposition politician decided to expand the aforementioned historical associations.
After the 1989 elections, Jaruzelski was well aware that the people had had enough of the communists, but he entrusted the mission of forming the government to Kiszczak. So that the president doesn’t follow the same path
– he emphasized, noting that he “reminds and warns” the head of state, and Andrzej Duda will certainly hear it. The question is whether Kowal, by claiming that he is putting forward such analogies “as a historian,” is not discrediting himself as a historian. It is also interesting that until now the president has been a passive ‘Adrian’, a ‘pen’, an executor of the will of PiS and Jarosław Kaczyński for opposition politicians, and now has suddenly ‘grown’ to the rank of someone who can make a decision for himself, and this decision could also turn him into a communist dictator who has used the military against his own people.
The Constitution deliberately does not complete this, because it assumes that the President has reason, has a conscience and realizes how important it is for the security of Poland today to quickly establish a stable government with the support of the majority of the parliament, supported by the majority. of parliamentarians and the majority of society. This is beyond discussion
– emphasized the parliamentarian. The question is whether we can really count on the stability of a government whose components are united only by ‘anti-PiS’ and divided by many more people – from ideological issues to attitudes towards social transfers.

What about teacher pay increases?
Although the Civic Coalition led by Donald Tusk proudly announced pay increases during the campaign, including: for teachers, it turned out that not all politicians from this group fully support it. Paweł Kowal had a particular problem with the answer to the question of whether academic teachers can also count on a raise.
They concerned all teachers
– he said after a moment of thought.
When asked (twice) if he was also academic, he first repeated the statement about “all teachers”, and then replied:
I’ve already told you everything.
No, you didn’t tell me everything. A very simple question. Can academic teachers, like those who work in schools, count on this 30 percent? the wage increase you promised before the elections?
– asked Marcin Zaborski.
In my opinion, yes
– said Paweł Kowal. When asked by a journalist whether he was unsure whether the proposal also covers academic teachers, he said:
Yes.
He then asked the TVN24 journalist to move on to the next question.
I said what I could and should have said
– added.
Funds from KPO
When asked whether money from the KPO would flow to Poland as early as April next year, the KO MP replied that this might even be “faster”.
Ursula von der Leyen proposed – it had already been agreed, only the Polish government violated the agreements – that the legislative process should begin and the rest would be based on political trust. Here it is clear that this is possible
– he emphasized, once again admitting that ‘political trust’ indicates a double standard from the EC. As you can see, he sees neither the fault of the European Commission in the whole situation, which also changed the arrangements during the game, nor his own group, which, by voting in the European Parliament on resolutions on Poland, also contributed to changes in EC regulations.
Some changes in the law need to be made, but we cannot put ourselves in a situation where we will wait for the president’s blackmail. Changes will happen, it will be clear and there will be a guarantee from the parliamentary majority in Poland that they will be completed
– emphasized the KO parliamentarian.
There is no reason for the European Commission to delay payment
– added.
Following the statements of subsequent opposition politicians, it is becoming increasingly clear that the EC was not necessarily concerned about the ‘rule of law’, nor that the program and election promises are not a priority. The most important thing is to remove PiS from power.
