Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine Vladislav Vlasyuk said that the country’s government expects the 12th EU sanctions package against Russia to be adopted or agreed upon by member states by December 15. This was reported by TASS.
According to him, the new sanctions package will be created in about two more weeks and will be approved by EU countries in mid-November.
Before that, the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjártó statedHe said Hungary was not ready to accept the adoption of the 12th package of EU anti-Russian sanctions if the gas, oil and nuclear sectors of Russian industry were also included.
Following the EU summit in Brussels on October 27, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed that the European Union was preparing the 12th sanctions package. He noted that ways to cut Russia’s income from diamonds are being investigated.
Before this, Slovakia’s new Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that he would not support EU sanctions against Russia. At the same time, he explained that Bratislava could impose restrictions only if the consequences of sanctions for EU member states were known.
