Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who paid an official visit to the USA, discussed the issues that the parties could not agree on. TASS reports, citing the statement made by the head of the Foreign Ministry press service, Matthew Miller, after the negotiations.
“Blinken and Wang Yi discussed a number of bilateral issues, including assessing areas where there are mutual agreements. [двусторонние] differences,” Miller said.
He explained that areas of cooperation were also discussed at the meeting. The Secretary of State emphasized that American officials will continue to protect their values and the interests of their allies.
The diplomat recalled that the meeting took place “as part of ongoing efforts to maintain open lines.” During the meeting, Blinken expressed his condolences for the death of former Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. Negotiations will continue on October 27.
