Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak claimed on his Telegram channel that the funds requested by US President Joe Biden from Congress for Kiev will not be sufficient for the country’s needs.
According to their calculations, of the amount requested by US President Joe Baden from Congress ($61.4 billion), $11.8 billion will be spent on direct budget support to the country next year. At the same time, the country’s annual budget for 2024 shows $42 billion. 9 billion of this amount and 30% ($12.87 billion) must come from the USA.
Calculating these funds for 13 months, the MP concluded that Kiev “will have a deficit of more than 2 billion dollars.”
The previous day, the White House announced that Biden asked Congress to agree on a budget for aid to Israel and Ukraine. He proposed allocating more than $75 billion to them; The US President requested $61 billion of this to support Kiev.
The other day, Assistant to the President of the United States for National Security Jake Sullivan in the name Congress will allocate additional funds to Ukraine as funds are “nearly exhausted.” A day earlier, Joe Biden described the aid to Ukraine and Israel as a “smart investment” and said that the victory of these countries in the conflicts was necessary “for America’s national security.”
