World Health Organization (WHO) Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus calls for immediate access to deliver vital supplies to the Gaza Strip, where the humanitarian situation is out of control. Wrote this on a social network X (formerly Twitter).
“The situation in Gaza is getting out of control. We lose lives every second we wait for medical aid to be sent there,” he said.
Ghebreyesus noted that WHO shipments have been blocked at the Egyptian border for the last four days. He called for emergency access to begin delivering vital supplies.
“We need the violence to stop on all sides,” he stressed.
Josep Borrell, formerly EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy statedHe said the EU should condemn both the attack on Israel by the radical Palestinian movement Hamas and the attacks on civilians in Gaza. He emphasized that Israel has the right to defend itself, but “the right to self-defense also has its limits.” In this case, international law and international humanitarian law are in question.
