During the next term of the Sejm, Germany will begin talks on reparations. They will no longer be able to run away from this issue because it damages their image, Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk said on RMF FM radio. The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the government is coordinating actions in all areas to evacuate all our citizens from Israel. “There are still about 250 people waiting to be evacuated,” he said. The conversation also touched on the elections abroad and the departure of two generals.
On Wednesday, the Council of Europe held a public hearing in Strasbourg on British parliamentarian Lord Keen’s report, which proposes the establishment of an international mechanism to resolve historic war compensation disputes.
CHECK THE DETAILS: Report on Reparations in the Council of Europe. Will there be an international mechanism for resolving historical disputes?
“In the next term of the Sejm, Germany will sit down for discussions.
Mularczyk noted that “there is a good chance that a debate will take place at the Council of Europe’s meeting in January and that this resolution will be adopted.”
This will create a mechanism that will force the Germans and the German state to enter into a dialogue with Poland on reparations.
– added. When asked when this could actually happen, the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized: “I am absolutely convinced that this will happen in the next term of the Sejm.”
He recalled that “for eighty years no one ‘solved’ this in Poland, and within a year we raised this issue internationally.”
I declare that the Germans will start talking in the next term of the Sejm, because they can no longer run away from this issue, because it is damaging to their image. The whole world is already aware of this topic: America, Canada, the European Parliament, Brussels. Germany will not be able to escape from Poland
– emphasized Mularczyk.
There are still about 250 Poles waiting to be evacuated from Israel
The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also asked, among other things, about how many Poles are still waiting to be evacuated from Israel.
About 750 people have already been evacuated from Israel. According to the reports we have received – more than two thousand emails and phone calls since the start of the Hamas attack on Israel – we know that around a thousand Poles wanted to evacuate. According to this data, approximately 250 people are still waiting to be evacuated
– he inquired.
He recalled that “from the very beginning we launched an airlift from Israel to Crete and later to Poland; Casa and Hercules planes are launched.
When asked whether Poles living permanently in Israel could count on evacuation, Mularczyk said that “all people with a Polish passport or dual nationality can count on such an evacuation.”
Naturally, there are specific transport options and we will provide this transport on an ongoing basis
– he pointed out.
Mularczyk was also asked about Poles staying or living near or in the Gaza Strip.
This number is significant, our citizens are located in different parts of Israel. Polish diplomats on site and a contingent of soldiers are responsible for the evacuation action
– he said.
When asked whether discussions were ongoing with Israel on this issue, the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry noted that “we are in discussions with the Israeli Foreign Ministry.”
We must coordinate arrivals and departures from Israel, because a rocket attack is still taking place there, so these are flights that take place in a certain risk zone. But we sent our best soldiers and officers there
– added.
We are also in discussions with Palestine, but also with neighboring countries Egypt and Jordan. We are coordinating efforts in all areas to evacuate all our citizens
– he emphasized.

Hamas attack on Israel and evacuation of Poland
The Islamist Hamas attack on Israel began on Saturday morning. Fighters have infiltrated many cities in the south of the country. Israel was also attacked with thousands of rockets. On Sunday afternoon, the Israeli army announced that it was carrying out massive airstrikes on targets in the Palestinian Authority, where Hamas fighters are believed to be hiding. On the night from Sunday to Monday, the Israeli army announced that it was still carrying out airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.
On Tuesday morning, the head of Polish diplomacy, Zbigniew Rau, referring to the evacuation of Polish citizens from Israel, announced on Polish Radio 24 that half of the efforts had already been completed.
This morning we have already evacuated more than 600 Polish citizens, and this process is going very smoothly. Of course, we will also help our partners evacuate their citizens
Rau said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has an operational center that has set up a reporting point to receive reports and provide information. There are two hotline numbers: in Poland + 48 22 523 88 80 and in Israel + 972 372 53 111. An email address is also available: [email protected].

Elections abroad
The Deputy Foreign Minister stated that the Polish government has prepared appropriate conditions for Polish citizens participating in parliamentary elections abroad. As evidence, he cited the creation of more commissions around the world.
We are prepared for a larger number of voters
– emphasized Mularczyk.
To the accusation that committees abroad will be overloaded and poorly distributed, and that the 24 hours given to committee members to count votes is not enough time, the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded:
There are local government elections, where we elect councilors for assemblies, municipalities, poviats and mayors, four rounds of voting in total, and our committees are doing really well. These are often very experienced people (…) With all due respect (…) they can really handle it. Especially because the number of voting points is absolutely the highest in the history of all elections.
He also added:
we do our best. We have shown that the number of voting units comes from the demand reported by our diplomats and consuls, taking into account previous experience, but also the number of requests. The number of polling station networks is the result of the information we receive from the polling stations.

“Two irresponsible generals took off their uniforms before the elections.
Arkadiusz Mularczyk also criticized the former Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Rajmund Andrzejczak, and General Tomasz Piotrowski, former operational commander of the armed forces.
As a citizen and parliamentarian, I am disgusted that two generals decided to take off the uniforms of soldiers of the Polish Army three days before the elections (…) It is a shame that such high-ranking soldiers would join the partisan campaign. These were actions coordinated with the opposition, with Donald Tusk immediately claiming that a lot of soldiers and officers would resign (…) This shows that Tusk will do everything he can to damage the Polish state and government
– said the deputy minister, stating that “two irresponsible generals took off their uniforms before the elections.”
