General Wiesław Kukuła is an experienced special forces officer. His task will be primarily the development of the Polish army, the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, said on Thursday in the first program of Polish Radio.
On Thursday, Błaszczak was asked in PR1 about the accusations about the lack of experience of Lieutenant General Wiesław Kukuła, appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army by President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday.
General Kukuła is an officer with extensive military experience. It comes from special forces. He was entrusted with the mission of creating the Territorial Armed Forces – he fulfilled the mission. He was commander of the WOT for two terms. He had been on missions before, including a mission in Iraq. So he is an experienced soldier, knows the army perfectly, is a creative and energetic man
– replied the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
When asked about the tasks facing the new Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, Błaszczak replied:
First of all, the development of the army.
The head of the Ministry of National Defense said the development and strengthening of the military in recent years is “unprecedented in our history.”
We have great people, great soldiers, an example of which is the evacuation of Polish pilgrims and tourists from Israel, which was organized in an extremely short time. In one day, on Sunday, we organized such an action, in collaboration with General Wiesław Kukuła
– said the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
Błaszczak recalled that 49,000 people had registered for voluntary compulsory military service in the past eighteen months. 632 new soldiers. He added that due to the high level of interest, he expects that after the final 8th session, which lasts from mid-November to mid-December, the number will exceed 55,000. trained soldiers.
President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday made changes to the highest command positions in the Polish Armed Forces. Lieutenant General Wiesław Kukuła, who had previously been dismissed from the post of General Commander of the Armed Forces, was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army.
The president appointed Major General Maciej Klisz as operational commander of the armed forces. Therefore, the president dismissed him from the post of commander of the territorial forces.
Earlier, the president dismissed General Rajmund Andrzejczak from the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army and Lieutenant General Tomasz Piotrowski from the post of Operational Commander of the Armed Forces after they resigned.
