Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan’s decision to initiate the procedure for ratifying the Rome Statute was taken before the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by TASS.

On October 2, the Armenian Parliament approved the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) at its meeting.
60 members of Parliament voted to approve the statute and adopt a declaration on the retroactive recognition of the ICC’s jurisdiction, while 22 members voted against.
Once approved, the document must be signed by the President of Armenia and will come into force within 60 days.
