Donald Tusk did not surprise in the debate. It was the same PO leader who was known from rallies with a clenched, raised fist and anger in his eyes. At the beginning, he announced that he wanted to show TVP viewers what he was really like. And he showed it. Exactly the same as the rallies, spreading anger and hatred. But Prime Minister Morawiecki resisted the attacks, but he also attacked them himself. Accurate.
Donald Tusk completely wasted the first minute of answering first. Instead of focusing on the merits, he attacked Jarosław Kaczyński and lamented how poorly the media treated him. He also preferred to refer to KO’s hundred postulates in subsequent questions rather than to program details. He completely missed a unique opportunity to make a good impression at the beginning.
Tusk also did not surprise by trying to portray the Prime Minister as his former advisor and belittling his rank. But today Prime Minister Morawiecki is the head of the government, and everyone will remember the sentence: “I left a lot of money for Poland, and he left Poland for money.” It was a hit. Both Donald Tusk and Mateusz Morawiecki started the debate in great tension. However, Prime Minister Morawiecki managed to relax and attack more accurately. Playing with a two zloty coin given by a pensioner – excellent. It was also Prime Minister Morawiecki who was able to outline a specific vision of Poland and explain what would happen if the PO took power.
The other participants in the debate formed the background for the strongest players. New Left decided to nominate a woman, Joanna Scheruing-Wielgus, to the debate. This move was so successful that the left talks a lot about women’s rights and without the MP, not a single woman would have participated in the debate. The MP, famous for her mistakes, who shouted “down with the dictatorship of women” and did not know what unemployment we have in Poland, apart from one slip of the tongue (the left wants to build not 300, but 300,000 apartments), skillfully presented the left program. She smiled and relaxed. The part about the husband dying in an accident was touching. Mrs Scheuring-Wielgus has certainly not worsened the results of the left, which can calmly think about the electoral threshold and perhaps even become the third force.
Szymon Hołownia answered as an exemplary student in front of the board. He adapted perfectly to the rules of the game, made optimal use of his time, spoke accurately and gestured well. He was relaxed and smiling, it was clear that he felt good in the media, but what do we remember about the vision of the Third Way? Review of social programs and a promise of reconciliation. This could be a bait for several thousand indecisive people. But considering how Hołownia has been attacked by KO and his acolytes in recent months, the number of lifelines the leader of Poland 2050 threw to Donald Tusk was surprising.
Krzysztof Bosak always does well in debates, but the Confederation’s program is difficult to accept. And the impartial local government people. They could have flashed. They didn’t shine.
The clash of giants was won by Mateusz Morawiecki, who did not allow himself to be thrown off balance, attacked more precisely, kept his emotions under control and presented a clear vision of Poland’s future.
