If we were to limit ourselves to the comments of the mainstream European press and mindlessly copying them from the Polish mainstream press, the EU summit in Granada was attended by a meeting of leading statesmen, deeply concerned about the general well-being of Europe, with the with the exception of two heads of ‘illegal states’: Poland and Hungary.
The entire weekend was discussed on Friday about the informal meeting of the European Council, chaired by Spain, during which the migration pact was unanimously debated, against which Poland and Hungary strongly protested.
‘Mandatory solidarity’ – as the cylinder of the leftist agenda is often euphemistically called – can of course be replaced by a monetary equivalent (i.e. a fine for lack of solidarity) of around 20,000 euros per person. No wonder Orbán commented on this fact with the words: “we were legally raped.”
The leading Spanish titles, i.e. the daily newspapers: El Mundo, EL PAÍS and ABC, commented on the summit in a similar, unfavorable tone:
The lack of agreement between Poland and Hungary on everything related to a common migration policy caused tension at the summit of EU leaders in Granada. Warsaw and Budapest tried to take over the discussion and block the joint statement by the 27 members, which discussed promoting economic agreements with their countries of origin and transit to limit the illegal influx of immigrants. The ultra-conservative partners in the East, the hardest wing against immigrants seeking asylum, not only do not support the pact but also demand that all decisions on immigration be taken unanimously in order to block any common ground with their veto. They used the Grenada summit, aimed at strategic autonomy and EU expansion, to stoke public anger against what they call the ‘dictatorship of Berlin and Brussels’.
(EL PAÍS, “Tensions over migration. Hungary and Poland complicate Granada summit”, 06/10/2023)
After the summit in Grenada, Poland and Hungary appear – at least in the mirror of local journalism – as two rebellious countries that still do not understand the wisdom of this phase of history and do not want to participate in the only correct process of EU federalization. Strangely enough, the word “sovereignty” appears in mainstream Spain only in the context of Ukraine and the defense of its borders, because there is complete agreement on the need to relinquish national powers in favor of EU powers, even if Madrid a decrease in EU powers. Given his position in the ranks of EU powers, many unfavorable to himself, he must meekly accept Brussels’ decisions. Prime Minister Sánchez said at the last press conference on Tuesday the significant words “we renounce our sovereignty to Brussels, we integrate even more into the federal structure of Europe” and no media outlet commented on these words, because for all Spaniards (except for the Vox electorate) this is an obvious and even long-awaited issue. However, the vast majority of Spaniards live in real fear of the enormous pressure from immigrants forcing their way through their land and sea borders. Therefore, ‘solidarity’ means the same thing for them as it does for Poles or Hungarians, i.e. stop and stop. put an end to the invasions from the countries of the Maghreb, Africa and the Middle East in solidarity.
Never before has the mainstream press been such clear evidence that Europeans live in two alternative worlds. On the one hand, the Western elites and journalists of the largest media, fulfilling their docile duty, write about the disastrous role of Poland and Hungary, which block the agreements, and on the other hand, in the same media, about their loyal readers in the comments below the text rightly wonder: “why was the leaders’ summit not held in Lampedusa, but in the Nasrid Palace in Granada, surrounded by 5,000 police officers”? And although everyone hears about the problems on the Italian island, the Canary Islands have also been the target of an invasion by immigrants for two years, but there is no political will to stop this from the left-wing communist government in Madrid. That is why the comments under texts about Poland in El Mundo or ABC and even in Wyborcza’s twin brother “EL PAÍS” are full of support for the position of Poland and Hungary. Exclamations of jealousy towards Warsaw and Budapest are absolutely prevalent in reader comments on newspaper websites or among social media publications. It would be tempting to copy dozens of these comments into the text above, but the conclusion they draw is always the same: “Poland and Hungary are the only hope for Europe in its desperate march towards catastrophe.” However, the most interesting of the hundreds of comments seemed to me to be this man, “Joseph:”, who most honestly explained the discrepancy between the media story and the feelings of the average Westerner in the text of El Mundo:
In fact, the article should be read as follows: all the traitors of Europe gathered to eat a Moorish menu that cost hundreds of thousands of public money and symbolically celebrate the Africanization of Europe, against the express will of the Europeans. The only real European leaders present at this meeting were Orbán and Morawieki, the rest of those present represented NONE of us Europeans
Let us not be fooled: neither Brussels, nor Berlin, nor the Polish mainstream, deeply affected by Dutch cinema, has any idea what the ‘European demos’ are thinking. And he is increasingly thinking like the Poles and Hungarians represented by their prime ministers at the summit in Granada.
