No Poles were injured in Hamas’ attack on Israel. We must refrain from traveling to Israel, President Andrzej Duda emphasized on Polsat News.
No Poles were injured
As far as we know at this time, from the information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish Contingent (Military – PAP) in Lebanon, no Poles have been harmed, and there is no information that any of our citizens have suffered as a result. Hamas attacks on Israel so far. Happy
– said President Andrzej Duda in “Rymanowski’s Breakfast on Polsat News and Interia”.
As the president added, there are groups of Poles in Israel “and quite a large group at the moment.”
As far as I know there are Polish groups in the West Bank. These are numbers that run into the hundreds
– said Duda.
A call not to travel to Israel
At this time, you should refrain from traveling to Israel and this is an absolute call – until the situation is clarified and especially until the fighting and attacks stop.
– said the president.
President Duda assured that the Polish diplomatic and consular services are currently doing everything in their power to determine the place of presence of all our citizens, as far as possible.
And secondly, of course, take care of them
– added.
As the president added, discussions and considerations are currently underway about “how we can bring our citizens back to Poland.”
Poland offered humanitarian aid
The president was asked whether what happened yesterday, which began with the invasion of Israel by Palestinian Hamas and ends with continued retaliation by Israeli forces, could be the start of World War III.
I wouldn’t exaggerate. This is not the first war situation there in the Middle East. Let us not forget that such situations have already occurred in recent decades. Wars have been fought there that did not lead to a world war. So I wouldn’t go that far
– Andrzej Duda replied.
But as he added: “It is indeed a situation that has not happened there for a long time and is very dangerous.”
Because the massive rocket attack that Hamas launched on Israel in the early morning hours yesterday consisted of thousands of rockets falling on Israel. And indeed, something like this has not been observed for a long time
– noted the President.
He emphasized that Israel had suffered heavy losses.
In a sense, it is clear that Israel will take action; first, it will try to prevent further attacks, and second, it will retaliate.
– Duda noticed.
The president was also asked whether during the telephone conversation with the president of Israel he spoke to him about the involvement of forces other than the Palestinians in this attack, and whether Iran and Russia played a role in it.
NO. We haven’t talked about it. It wasn’t a long conversation. First of all, I expressed our condolences and condolences to the Israeli people, and also to the President himself
– said Andrzej Duda.
And – as he said – “I said we stand ready to provide assistance if humanitarian support is needed.”
Israel is a country with which we are friends and we can provide this help especially to people, to the injured.
– emphasized the president.
But – as he added – “I have heard that the Israeli authorities have the situation under control, that they do not need any assistance at this time and that they will defend themselves resolutely.”
Hamas attack on Israel
On Saturday at approximately 6:30 am local time (5:30 am in Poland), the Hamas attack on Israel began. Fighters have infiltrated many cities in the south of the country. Israel was also attacked with thousands of rockets.
The Israeli army reported on Sunday morning that clashes with Hamas fighters were underway in eight places in southern Israel. Hamas’s armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigade, also reported “fierce fighting.”
