Waiver of immunity and dismissal from candidacy in the upcoming parliamentary elections – this is the appeal to Senate President Tomasz Grodzki, which was presented today by Szczecin candidates for the Sejm and Senate from the PiS list, Dariusz Matecki and Agnieszka Kurzawa.
The Szczecin Regional Prosecutor’s Office collected the testimonies of 236 witnesses who had to confirm that money was demanded from them in exchange for accelerated hospital admission. Only after such information, Donald Tusk should ask Mr. Tomasz Grodzki not only to waive his immunity, but also to stop running for senator of the Republic of Poland.

Indictment against Grodzki
As PAP reported the day before yesterday, the Szczecin prosecutor’s office plans to file charges against Senate President Tomasz Grodzki for fraud against patients, bribery and money laundering. According to investigators, Tomasz Grodzki was also responsible for the commission of crimes, including: by other doctors.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office added that “the National Public Prosecutor’s Office has received a request from the Regional Public Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin to waive the immunity of the Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, Tomasz Grodzki.”
Are they suggesting that we brought in 200 people and they gave fictitious testimonies?
– said Matecki, adding that “these are serious accusations, concerning almost PLN 2.5 million.”
He (Tomasz Grodzki – PAP) should simply appear before the legal system, before an independent court, and every resident of Szczecin, Western Pomerania, Poland and all media should hear the testimonies of these people.

Waiver of immunity
According to information provided to PAP by the Public Prosecution Service, the charges relate to the commission of crimes in the period 2008-2019, extorting money from patients for operations carried out within the state health service. The prosecutor’s findings show that the marshal allegedly incited other people to commit crimes, including: doctors who had already heard charges in the case and ordered them to commit these crimes.
In the request for waiver of immunity submitted to the Senate of the Republic of Poland, the Public Prosecutor’s Office qualified the acts under Art. 286 pair 1 of the Criminal Code, art. 299 pair 1 Criminal Code and art. 228 pairs 1, 3 and 4 of the Criminal Code. These crimes include patient fraud, bribery and money laundering. This request concerns events other than those described in the first request for waiver of Tomasz Grodzki’s immunity.

The reported request is not the first request by the prosecutor’s office to waive Grodzki’s immunity. In March 2021, the Szczecin Prosecutor’s Office requested the waiver of the Marshal’s immunity and submitted a request to the Senate in this regard. The Public Prosecution Service subsequently stated that Grodzki would be charged with four counts of receiving financial benefits during the period when he was director of a specialized hospital in Szczecin and head of the local Department of Thoracic Surgery.
However, the Senate left this motion out of consideration because it had not been corrected, as previously requested by the Senate. As a result, the prosecutor’s office repeated this request. However, in May this year the Senate did not agree to hold Grodzki criminally liable.
