In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, a bus was stopped after a chase in which a Moroccan with a German residence card was transporting nine Syrians without the right to enter Poland. The man tried to cross the Polish-Slovak border illegally in Zwardoń – informed the border guard.
Checks at the border with Slovakia
Nearly 6 thousand people and more than two thousand vehicles were checked at the border with Slovakia within 24 hours – said Border Guard spokeswoman Lieutenant Anna Michalska. Several dozen migrants have been arrested since Wednesday, including five during train checks and nine after a chase.
From Wednesday you can only cross the border at designated places. People entering Poland are randomly checked. You must have a travel document with you: identity card or passport.
The border guard spokeswoman said that during the first 24 hours, more than 5,800 people and more than 2,200 vehicles entering Poland were checked at the border with Slovakia. The most people checked were Poles – almost 2,800, and Slovaks – 2,055. About 150 Ukrainians and about 150 Czechs and citizens of many other countries were also checked at the border.
Border controls have been resumed due to increased migratory pressure on the so-called Balkan Route, one of the branches of which runs through Slovakia. Since the beginning of this year, the Polish Border Guard has apprehended more than 1,670 foreigners at this border without the right to enter Poland.
Pursuit of the Moroccan
Since the resumption of checks until Thursday morning, several migrants have been detained at the border with Slovakia. On Wednesday, officers of the Silesian Border Guard arrested five Syrian citizens during an inspection on a train. The spokesman for this unit, 2nd Lt. Border guard Szymon Mościcki explained that these people most likely crossed the so-called green border, and they boarded the train in Poland. They had documents from the Slovak side. They will be transferred to Slovakia in accordance with the readmission procedure.

The situation on the Balkan route
The Border Guard spokeswoman noted that the first effects of the restoration of control are visible at the border with Slovakia.

Lieutenant Michalska pointed out that due to the situation on the Balkan route, border control was also restored by the Czech Republic on the border with Slovakia, as well as by Slovakia on the border with Hungary. In addition, controls are exercised by Austria at the borders with Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia and by Germany at the border with Austria.
