Head of the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice, Atanas Slavov, authorized the adoption of “state measures” due to the Russian Orthodox Church’s decision to close the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Sofia, known as the Russian Church. This was reported by RIA News.

According to Slavov, the closure of the temple is “the arbitrariness in the field of canon law” of the “Russian state in the person of the ambassador”.

“Maybe the government needs to take action,” he said.

Slavov stated that the temple is under the jurisdiction of the Bulgarian Patriarch and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
