Nowadays, a Tusk supporter who takes to the streets is mentally a hybrid of Kołodziejczak and Owsiak. Extremely prone to demagoguery, loud and rude.
Krzysztof Skiba wishing death on Jarosław Kaczyński, slogans like ‘fuck PiS’ appearing at concerts and music events, Krystyna Janda’s crazy revelations, all kinds of nonsense about censorship and lack of freedom that, for example, Agnieszka Holland or recently Adam Michnik talks about, these are not the antics of circus artists and older authorities, but the reality in which several million residents of Poland live. They talk about the lack of freedom, even though they experience it every day and enjoy the benefits of living in an independent country. And most importantly, they deny it to those who disagree with them.
Donald Tusk brought his supporters onto the streets for the second time. The only emotion that fuels the consciousness of the participants in these types of demonstrations and drives them to be active is open or hidden hatred and contempt for the other side of the political dispute. These emotions are very strong there and are skillfully fueled by the leaders of the Platform. Voters – once unthinkable – have no other, more serious vision of the state in their sights that was so passionately discussed about a dozen years ago. Because neither does their leader.
They do not know exactly what the state, international politics, taxes, security and the European Union should look like. Everything is reactive, relative, fluid and at most a commentary on the actions of the right-wing government. It’s hard not to get the impression that this is the most manipulated voter in this year’s election, having lived in a tight sociological bubble for eight years. It is so dangerous because it is frustrated, fueled by hatred and manipulation. This hybrid of Kołodziejczak and Owsiak is very convinced of his superiority and infallibility.
