Councilors for Law and Justice in the Gdańsk City Council announced that they had submitted a draft resolution on compensation by Germany for the crimes of the Second World War. “We hope that the German authorities will finally come to a conclusion and that they will finally talk to us about these compensations,” said PiS MP Kacper Płażyński.
On Wednesday, a press conference was held at the Gdańsk City Council building with PiS MP Kacper Płażyński and PiS councilors in the Gdańsk City Council on the draft resolution on compensation by Germany for the crimes of the Second World War.
As you know, the Polish public institutions and the Polish authorities, under the leadership of President Andrzej Duda, are all trying to obtain just compensation from Germany for the crimes it committed against the Polish nation, for the destruction it caused during the Second World War, for more than PLN 5 million victims, Poles who died at their hands
– emphasized Płażyński.
To this day, this case has not been closed
– noted the MP.
The Germans did not pay
To this day, Germany’s neighbors, with whom we want to have the best possible relations and who say they understand responsibility for what they have done to their neighbors, have not paid for it. And there is no such thing as reconciliation without just compensation
– said the MP.
We hope that the German authorities will finally come to their senses and that they will finally talk to us about these compensations, because it is not only decency, but Germany, which often presents itself as a very moral state that imposes ethical principles in Europe, must implement these principles such important matters are applied. Even more so because they remember the damage they caused to the people of Africa in the 19th century, when they colonized Africa, and they have already paid reparations to countries like Namibia, and they remember nothing about Poland, their closest neighbor . , to whom they have caused so much damage.
– he emphasized.
The Club of Councilors for Law and Justice has submitted a resolution at the next session of the Gdańsk City Council in which the Gdańsk City Council supports the aspirations of the Polish Government and the Polish State in the context of obtaining these compensations.
– Płażyński added.
Local government is important
The chairman of the Club of Councilors for Law and Justice in the Gdańsk City Council, Kazimierz Koralewski, pointed out that “Poland is a unitary country and local government is an important part of the Polish state.”
Therefore, we, as local government officials, would like to support in this statement the efforts of the Polish government to compensate and compensate for the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression. This is an important gesture on the part of the local government, as it emphasizes the unity of the Polish state and the responsibility of our local government officials towards the entire Polish population. That is why we have submitted a draft of such a statement, because now, in this month of September, it is worth recalling that we support the government and that Germany committed such aggression against Poland and that this matter requires compensation, because without compensation there is no reconciliation.
– he said.
PiS councilor Andrzej Skiba emphasized that the draft resolution is not a matter of coincidence.
This is a natural consequence of a number of previous actions. Work has been going on for several years, led by Institute for War Loss Jan Karski, among others, which led to the preparation of a report on the extent of the losses suffered by Poland as a result of aggression and the subsequent German occupation
– he said.
The next 18th session of the Gdańsk City Council will take place on Thursday, September 28 at 9 in the New Town Hall at ul. Wały Jagiellońskie 1.
