After the summer holiday in political life, the first rally against the policies of the authorities began in the afternoon of September 16 in Wenceslas Square in the center of Prague. This was reported by a local agency CTC.
“The organizers of the event changed the slogan of the rally compared to the spring protests; instead of “Czech Republic against poverty” it was “Czech Republic against the government”, the media explained.
The leader of the extra-parliamentary party, the main organizer of the rally, was quoted as saying: “That’s right. Respect. Professionalism” Jindrich Reichl called on the protesters to express their dissatisfaction with the activities of the Council of Ministers. The activist also cited economic reforms among the reasons for dissatisfaction.
The organizers of the rally announced that up to 100 thousand people will attend the rally.
Independent Trade Union Association president Bohumir Dufek, medical expert Ondrej Dostal and other prominent figures were planning to speak at the rally.
Approximately 10 thousand people in spring appeared participated in the anti-government rally.
