The Russian Foreign Ministry described the expulsion of Sputnik Moldova president Vitaly Denisov from the country as an unfriendly step. This was stated in an official message Web site ministries.
It was noted that on September 13, Sergiu Goncherenco, the Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Moldova in the Russian Federation, was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Regarding the expulsion of Denisov from the country, Goncherenko declared a determined protest.
“The Russian side considers this step as part of the anti-Russian campaign launched by the official Chisinau,” the message said.
Russian diplomats also demanded that Chisinau stop politically motivated persecution of Russian-language media sources and comply with the rights of journalists and obligations in the field of freedom of expression.
