I think I would like to become an honorary citizen of Warsaw, but whether this will happen depends on the councilors – former president of the capital Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz said on Friday. The proposal to honor her in this way was made by the councilors of the KO. PiS councilors are against.
The Warsaw councilor of the PO defends the idea. PiS and Brzeska’s daughter react!
The Warsaw Council is expected to take a decision on the granting of honorary citizenship in June. In addition to the proposal of KO councilors Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, the mayor of Kiev, Witalij Kliczko, nominated by PiS councilors, may also be honored.
The former mayor of the city, asked in Radio ZET if she would like to become an honorary citizen of Warsaw, said:
I think so.
As she noted, the decision rests with the councillors.
Noting that PiS is against its candidacy because of the so-called re-privatization scandal, Gronkiewicz-Waltz replied that PiS hadn’t improved or changed anything in this regard, and tenements with tenants were also “handed over” during Lech Kaczyński’s presidency.
Gronkiewicz-Waltz trying to whiten himself?
According to the former president, ‘action’ against her is becoming increasingly political. According to her, the fact that tenants lost their roofs is the fault of the Polish state, which has not yet passed the re-privatization law. Among her initiatives to counter the effects of re-privatization, she mentioned leading to the introduction of the so-called a small act of re-privatization.
Councilors usually vote in aggregate for candidates for the title of honorary citizen of Warsaw. The PiS club is calling on the KO club, which has a majority in Warsaw City Council, to decide separately whether to honor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz and Witalij Kliczka separately.
