In many districts, PiS used the trick of nominating Senate candidates with similar surnames and a similar committee name as the Senate Pact candidates to spread disinformation – said opposition politicians, calling on candidates with the Senate Pact logo. PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek called the opposition’s allegations insinuations.
MPs from opposition groups who took part in the Senate pact negotiations organized a press conference in the Sejm.
We can clearly see that in many districts PiS used a trick they know well: nominating candidates with similar surnames, with a similar committee name, just to misinform, to reduce the chances of candidates for the Senate pact and to of PiS candidates.
– noted the MP Marcin Kierwinski (KO).
The MP called on opposition voters to be careful.
Don’t be misled by so-called ‘independent’ candidates. Many of these candidates are candidates who work directly with PiS
– said the KO politician.
Today, this doctrine still applies during Senate elections: you either vote for candidates from the democratic opposition, or for candidates from the Senate Pact, or for people who tacitly or explicitly support PiS. We ask all voters (…) to support only those candidates who bear the Senate Pact logo
– he appealed.
MP Dariusz Wieczorek (left wing) announced that anyone who wants to ‘steal’ the Senate Pact logo will be immediately charged.
We have signed exclusive agreements regarding the use of the logo and name “Senate Pact”
– he pointed out.
He also announced that there would be recommendations for the signatories of the pact to organize presentations of the candidates for the Senate Pact in individual regions and – especially – to use the logo of the Senate Pact.
Today, this logo is crucial when it comes to winning Senate elections
– noted the left-wing MP.
Deputy Chairman of the Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski (KP-PSL) also encouraged voters to vote for candidates marked with the Senate Pact logo.
There are cases when our opponents, considering the importance and worth of the candidate, use unfair methods; Let’s not fall for them
– he appealed.
The First Vice-President of Szymon Hołownia’s Poland 2050, Michał Kobosko, emphasized that “there is only one Senate pact and there are no others”, while, as he said, “in some districts there are also situations where the word ‘pact’ appears. is used to, in some way, further ‘covering up’ the situation.”
I want to say very clearly that there is only one political group associated with Szymon Hołownia, with his initiative, ours (…) and this is Poland 2050 of Szymon Hołownia – a party, part of the Senate Pact, with some other groups that may have similar names, we have nothing in common
– Kobosko noted.
Responding to the journalists’ comment that there are still 98 candidates officially nominated under the Senate Pact, and not 100, Deputy Marshal Zgorzelski assured that “the list of candidates in the Senate Pact is exactly one hundred.” To the comment that no, because the left candidate in district 47 (Mińsk Mazowiecki) Marek Bielec was not registered, the representative of the left, Dariusz Wieczorek, replied: “I assure you that we will appeal to the Supreme Court after the decision of the National Electoral Commission. This concerns 17 signatures. We therefore hope that this call will actually be recognized.”
The District Electoral Commission in Siedlce refused to register the candidate of the Senate Pact in District 47 (Mińsk Mazowiecki), Marek Bielec. According to the committee, this candidate “did not receive the required voter support”.
Referring to Wednesday’s accusations by opposition politicians regarding the use of “tricks” by PiS, party spokesman Rafał Bochenek called this insinuation.
These are further insinuations from opposition politicians. I have no knowledge about this. We try to ensure that the PiS and United Right lists achieve the best possible results
– said Bochenek during the PiS Bochenek conference.
We collect signatures for our lists, for our candidates
– he pointed out.
Fogiel: These stories are another step in laying the groundwork for potential failures
When someone tells such stories, it is another step in laying a foundation for possible failure. Donald Tusk (PO leader) promised his voters, he promised his bosses in the European People’s Party, probably Mr (Manfred) Weber, a good result in the elections. Nowadays he knows that this is less and less realistic and tries to create storylines to justify this failure
– said the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Radosław Fogiel.
Rafał Bochenek added that PiS “has good candidates in the Senate elections who have high public trust.”
These are reliable people who have been working in their local communities for many years to strengthen their regions. We believe that our candidates will be supported by Poland and that the support they will receive will translate into victory in the Senate elections.
– said the PiS spokesperson.
Radosław Fogiel also referred on Wednesday to Saturday’s statement by PO leader Donald Tusk at the convention: “Rafał Trzaskowski took on a challenge in the presidential elections that went beyond human strength. The entire machine of the PiS state attacked him, and he won the elections, you know that well.”
This undermines confidence in the Polish democratic system. This is a very dangerous thing that can be used by our enemies who will try to attack Poland, because we are firmly on the side of values, on the side of the Western world.
– said Fogiel. He added that “the opposition that gives such balls is extremely irresponsible.”
