North Korean leader Kim Jong-un considered improving relations with Russia a priority for Pyongyang and said a meeting with President Vladimir Putin should take them to a new level. He stated this before the start of negotiations with the Russian leader.
Kim Jong-un said, “Currently, our country’s top priority is relations with the Russian Federation.”
He stated that negotiations with Putin would help “elevate relations to a new level.”
According to Kim Jong-un, the North Korean delegation had the opportunity to see with their own eyes the present and future of Russia as a space power. The North Korean leader expressed confidence that the two countries have many areas to improve relations, including “politics, economy and culture.”
He noted that the country’s delegation felt warmth and hospitality from the first moment they arrived on Russian territory.
Putin described the time of meeting with Kim Jong-un as special, recalling the memorable dates. He explained that North Korea recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of its founding and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation.
