Japan’s government has reportedly resigned altogether ahead of the reshuffle by the country’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida TASS.
This step was taken to increase popularity among the public and gain their support, especially in anticipation of possible early elections.
At an emergency government meeting, all ministers submitted their resignations, which were accepted by Kishida. The new structure of the Council of Ministers is expected to be announced in the coming hours. According to reports in the Japanese media, 11 of the 19 members of the government, including the foreign and defense ministers, will be replaced this time. It was noted that there will be five women in the next cabinet of ministers, and this will be the highest number in the country’s history.
It is assumed that Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be headed by 70-year-old Yoko Kamikawa, three-time Minister of Justice. Minoru Kihara will be the new Minister of Defense.
