Poland will not allow Ukrainian grain to flood us. Regardless of what the decision of Brussels officials will be, we will not open our borders, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Tuesday.
“We will not open the border”
Poland will not allow Ukrainian grain to flood us. Regardless of what Brussels officials decide, we will not open our borders
– the Prime Minister wrote on platform X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
A short video was included with the entry.
When we had to help our neighbors, we opened our hearts and homes. That’s how the Poles are
– said the head of government in the recording.
But – as he added – “if you have to fight for Polish interests, only the Government of Law and Justice guarantees that the interests of our farmers will be protected.”
We say no to disrupting and damaging the Polish agricultural market for consumers and producers. It was our tough stance that stopped the import of Ukrainian grain into the EU common market
– said Morawiecki.
He stressed that “the EU is now considering whether to maintain this embargo.”
I’ll tell you how it turns out. Poland will not allow Ukrainian grain to flood us. Regardless of what the decision of Brussels officials will be, we will not open the border. They have to take that into account, because it is the Poles who determine what it should look like in our own home
– noted the head of government.
The ban on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflowers from Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia was introduced by the European Commission at the beginning of May this year. as a result of the agreement with these countries on Ukrainian agri-food products. Initially, the ban lasted until June 5, then was extended until September 15. Transit of grain through the areas of the so-called frontline countries is permitted.
