Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin expressed his gratitude to the capital’s residents for their support in the mayoral elections. He wrote this in his book blog.

As the official noted, the preliminary results of the vote on the election of the mayor of the city were summarized.

“Thank you, my dears, for your support. Despite the tremendous path of creation that we have traveled together, there is a lot of difficult, complex, but very important work ahead of us for the country, the city and Muscovites,” Sobyanin said.

He also promised to do everything to make the capital “even cooler and more beautiful” and stand out from the rest.

“We can definitely handle this. Because we have the most valuable thing in this world: brave, talented, hard-working people, Muscovites. Victory will be ours,” Sobyanin said.

Before reportedIt was stated that the current mayor of Moscow received 76.40% of the votes after counting 85.22% of the protocols of regional election commissions (PECs) in the elections in the capital.

Elections were held in 85 regions of Russia in a single voting day, September 8-10. A mayor was elected in Moscow.

In 2010, the Moscow City Duma gave Sobyanin the powers of the capital’s mayor, in September 2013 he was elected mayor of Moscow, and in 2018 he was re-elected for a new term. Sobyanin’s opponents in the 2023 elections are Dmitry Gusev, representative of the “Just Russia – For Truth” party, Vladislav Davankov, representative of “New People”, Boris Chernyshov, the grandson of the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Leonid Zyuganov and a member of the LDPR.
