Almost 43 percent of voters in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) voted in elections in the region by the end of the first day of voting, Marianna Sumskaya, deputy head of the regional election committee, told reporters at a briefing.

Candidates from five regional branches of the parties are applying for seats in the LPR parliament: United Russia, LDPR, Fair Russia – For Truth, New People and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.

A total of 338 candidates were nominated for deputies of the LPR parliament. Later, 14 of them withdrew their candidacy. In addition, elections are held for the representative bodies of municipalities.

On September 8, elections at various levels began in Russia. This year, more than 4,000 election campaigns will be held across 85 topics with the participation of more than 81,000 candidates across the country. In particular, the elections will be held in Moscow, the Moscow region and for the first time in the new regions of Russia. Voting in most constituent units will take place in a three-day format and will end on Single Voting Day, September 10.
