Valery Kalachev, head of the Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, said that after the start of a special military operation (SVO), a number of hostile countries remained behind. Although such a procedure is not envisaged in the organization’s charter, discussions continue over the scenes regarding Russia’s expulsion from Interpol. This has been reported TASS.
According to Kalachev, the Interpol charter categorically prohibits any interference or activity of a political, military, religious or racial nature. However, the head of the NCB said that despite this, some states have made plans to exclude Russia from Interpol after the start of the NCB.
Kalachev noted that despite the pressure on Russia and the Interpol General Secretariat, it is possible to maintain high-level cooperation with both foreign partners and Russian law enforcement agencies. The NCB chief stressed that in the face of a difficult foreign policy situation, Interpol channels remain almost the only way to exchange information with the police.
