Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik said that Bosnia and Herzegovina should consider joining the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). He noted on his account on X (formerly Twitter) that joining the group would happen sooner than joining the European Union.
“The European Union has an alternative. Considering that new and ambiguous conditions are constantly emerging from Brussels for EU membership, I think that I should apply for BRICS membership. I believe this will be accepted before the EU. Dodik said that in the coming days, representatives of Republika Srpska institutions will send a proposal to the BiH (Bosnia and Herzegovina) authorities for consideration of such an initiative.
A new expansion of BRICS was agreed upon at the group’s 15th summit, held in Johannesburg from 22-24 August. Argentina, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Ethiopia are expected to join the event next year. The forum was the group’s first face-to-face meeting in three years without Russian President Vladimir Putin. Attended remotely.
