The proposal for increases presented by the Prime Minister is a major step forward. This is an increase in real wages in the state budget of 5.7 percent. above inflation – told PAP Piotr Duda, chairman of the National Commission of NSZZ “Solidarity”.
He added that the union would continue to hold talks to reach a 20 percent minimum. before 2024 for the whole sphere of public finances and that he knows that in the person of Prime Minister Morawiecki he has “a partner who never runs away from talks”.
There will always be someone unhappy
– said Piotr Duda, chairman of the National Committee of NSZZ “Solidarność”, when asked how he assessed the diverging opinions on the salary increases announced by the Prime Minister on Thursday on the budget front, which will amount to 12.3 percent. He added that some were also dissatisfied when Solidarity signed a systemic agreement with the government in June. “I said then that this did not mean the end of our talks with the government about salaries in the state budget, and that is what happened.” He recalled that at the time the government was proposing not so much an increase as an “inflation surcharge” of 6.6 percent. for 2024.
Solidarity disagreed. We maintain our position, namely at least 20 percent. increases for 2024 for the whole area of public finances, i.e. the budget
he stressed.
As he explained, after the signing of this systemic agreement, Solidarity was in constant contact with the government and engaged in negotiations.
This increase proposal, presented by the prime minister in next year’s budget proposal, is a major step forward. This is an increase in real wages in the state budget of 5.7 percent. above inflation
he noticed.
Duda pointed out that this solution would not allow the salaries of Polish employees in the budget sector to fall any further and that “budget sector employees would mostly earn at the minimum wage level”.
If the government listens to Solidarity, the minimum wage will be PLN 4,350 in the second half of next year. After further talks, the Prime Minister has taken our position to heart and I believe this is not the end. We need to continue these conversations, this battle with the government for increases in the broadly understood budget area, but as I said, we are moving in the right direction.
“The Sparks Flew”
When asked if it was difficult to talk to the United Right government, he replied that it was “difficult – just like any government.”
When the prime minister himself spoke about the agreement on bridging pensions, he admitted that sparks flew more than once. But let those sparks fly, as long as they don’t ignite anything
– emphasized Piotr Duda.
He added that he is “available 24 hours a day” when it comes to human resource conversations. “I also know that I have a partner in the person of Prime Minister Morawiecki, who never shy away from conversation.”
Although they often end in a fiasco, but then we come back to them and they end with a deal, just like in June. Some people said at the time that the government would cheat us, but that turned out not to be the case. It has already been put into bills and from January 1 we will have a change in the minimum wage law, the bridging pensions will not be abolished, and in 30 days there will be a big change for us in the form of regulation that will not protect only trade union activists, but also pregnant women and many other people who receive special protection in the workplace. This is a real dialogue
– assessed the head of the KK NSZZ Solidarność.
As he noted, Solidarity does not make “restrictive demands” during the negotiations, because nothing will be achieved this way.
It’s about moving forward in small increments and gaining your bargaining power
– Piotr Duda described his tactics.
I understand the government, but as a trade unionist it is my job to get as much as I can – especially for the union members and for the rest of the workers.
Duda pointed out, adding that “the pre-election time is a harvest time for the unions.”
We have gained a lot by signing the system agreement, and the Prime Minister’s proposal is a good step towards improving the disastrous situation of public finance workers.
he assessed.
The Prime Minister must realize – I remind him every time – that when he talks about the professionalism of civil servants, they must be professionally rewarded for it, otherwise they will flee to the private sector.
– emphasized the chairman of the National Commission of NSZZ “Solidarity”.
Higher salary
People working in the budget sector, public services and uniformed services can count on a 12.3 percent higher salary. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced this on Thursday, referring to the draft budget for 2024. He added that it would be an increase well above inflation.
We want our uniformed services, firefighters, soldiers, policemen, border guards and all other services, as well as the entire budget, to be appreciated for their hard work, including all teachers – broadly understood budget
– said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at a press conference on the draft budget for 2024. As the head of government stated: “all persons working in the budget sector, public services, uniformed services and not only uniformed services can count on a higher salary – it will be 12 be .3%.”. He added that the finance minister is still in talks with the defense minister and the interior and administration minister, “from when will this increase in the number of uniforms take place”.
We are prepared pretty much from the first quarter of every month
he declared.
In the entire remaining budget, as he indicated, this will be from the beginning of the year.
The prime minister pointed out that the wage increase will be significant, “which will exceed inflation planned for next year at the level of about 6.6 percent.
