Commission for the Study of Russian Influence
On May 31, the law establishing a commission to investigate Russian influence on the internal security of the Republic of Poland in the period 2007-2022 entered into force. The president signed this law a few days earlier and at the same time announced that they will be referred to the Constitutional Court. Subsequently, Andrzej Duda submitted a draft amendment to this law to the Sejm on June 2. The Sejm passed it on June 16. Finally, the president signed the amendment on July 31. It came into force in August.
Under the presidential amendment, lawmakers will not be able to sit on the committee investigating Russian influence; the preventive measures previously contained in the law have been abolished (including the prohibition on performing functions related to the provision of public funds for a maximum period of up to 10 years), and the main subject of the committee will be be the admission that the person does not guarantee the proper performance of activities in the public interest; The decision of the commission must be appealed to the Court of Appeal in Warsaw.
In accordance with the law, the Commission consists of nine members of the rank of Secretary of State, appointed and dismissed by the Sejm. The right to submit no more than 9 candidates for committee members to the Marshal of the Sejm shall be granted to each Deputy or Parliamentary Club within the time limit specified by the Marshal.
The box threatens criminal liability
Asked by PAP whether the KO would nominate candidates to the committee, PO club head Borys Budka responded that “Civic Coalition will not nominate candidates to this pseudo-committee.”
In addition, anyone who participates in the work of this illegal body must bear criminal liability

Also, the left and PSL clubs will not nominate candidates to the committee.
The head of the left wing club, Krzysztof Gawkowski, emphasized on Twitter that “there is increasing electoral panic within PiS, so they are returning to the issue of setting up a commission to investigate Russian influence!”.
The left firmly declares that it will not report anyone and boycott the work of this illegal body!
he announced.
Kosiniak-Kamysz: Russian Path Committee
PSL president Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz also referred to the case on Twitter.
We will not legitimize the Russian path committee created by PiS and we will not nominate a representative to it
he inquired.
After the election is won by the democratic parties, we will appoint a law and justice commission that will hold the PiS government accountable
