What the rules say
Electoral commissions can form political parties, coalitions of parties and voters.
If the notification meets the conditions stated in the Elections Act, the National Electoral Commission will decide whether to accept it within 3 days of submission of the notification. If the notification is flawed, the NEC calls on the electoral representative to remove it within 3 days. If the defects are not remedied within this period, the PKW will refuse to receive the report. The election proxy has the right to file a complaint with the Supreme Court against the NEC’s decision to deny notification.
From the moment of registration the Election Commission can start collecting signatures for the lists of candidates. The deadline for submitting candidate lists for deputies and senators is September 6.
In accordance with the Electoral Act, the list of candidates for deputies must be supported by at least 5,000 signatures. voters who reside permanently in a particular constituency. An election commission that has submitted lists of candidates in at least half of the electoral districts may submit further lists without a signature.
The nomination of a candidate for senatorship must be supported by the signatures of at least 2,000 people. voters in a particular constituency.
To participate in the division of seats across the Sejm, party electoral commissions and voter electoral commissions must obtain more than 5 percent of voters’ votes. national electoral threshold; the electoral threshold for coalition election commissions is 8 percent.
Parliamentary elections will be held on 15 October; Poland will elect 460 deputies and 100 senators for four-year terms.
