“President Andrzej Duda will participate in a meeting of the Crimea platform on Wednesday. In his speech, he will emphasize the value of international law, the observance of which guarantees peace,” said Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Office of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery. The summit participants also include: French President Emmanuel Macron and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
Andrzej Duda will take part in the summit on Wednesday at a distance. Head of the Presidential Office for International Policy Marcin Przydacz stressed that the Polish president is participating in the meeting of the Crimea platform for the third time; recalled that this is a special format established three years ago by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which aims to discuss the issue of Crimea and “remind the world what is happening in Crimea”.
Among the participants in the meeting, Przydacz – apart from President Duda – mentioned m.in. French President Emmanuel Macron, President of the European Council Charles Michel, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and – as hosts – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In his speech, President Andrzej Duda will emphasize the value of international law as the principles that organize relations between states and the observance of which guarantees stability and peace.
Przydacz told PAP.
By occupying Crimea, Russia has violated fundamental principles of international law, which are also enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. It is therefore obvious that it should be emphasized that Crimea belongs to the territory of Ukraine and that all leaders participating in this discussion today can be expected to take this position.
– emphasized the presidential minister.
The question of Crimea
As he said, the discussion will also cover the situation in Crimea itself, as far as Ukrainian citizens are concerned, but also the Crimean Tatars, who – he noted – are “subjected there to various forms of persecution by the occupation side, by the Russian Federation.”
According to Przydacz, President Duda will also say that in his speech
The issue of Crimea is not only a regional problem, but also a global problem precisely because of the violations of the basic principles of international relations, because of the aggressive Russian policy, the occupation policy in this area
he stressed.
Przydacz was also asked about Ukraine’s Independence Day, which falls on Thursday, August 24. It is a Ukrainian holiday celebrated on August 24, the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine by the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR on August 24, 1991. This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the country’s exit from the Soviet Union. Union.
There will certainly be wishes for Ukraine in connection with the next anniversary of our neighboring country’s independence. We want to keep these good neighborly relations at a good level. The president is in constant contact with the Ukrainian side, and so are we as the president’s back office or administration
Przydacz emphasized.
The Crimea Platform is a forum of leaders of states and international organizations that aims to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The first summit of this format was held in Kiev last year on August 23 with the participation of President Duda.
