The removal of Rafał Trzaskowski’s panel of “symmetrists” from Campus Polska’s program cast many doubts on whether the organization is really that close to “open debate and dialogue”, which they emphasize every step of the way. This decision sparked outrage among journalists, and Trzaskowski’s organization said in a statement that it had received signals from the event participants that they were dissatisfied and uncomfortable with the statements made by one of the panelists.
Let us remind you that Marcin Meller, Dominika Sitnicka, Grzegorz Sroczyński and Jan Wróbel were invited to Campus Polska Przyszłości, organized on the initiative of Rafał Trzaskowski. Among those who were outraged by this panel were many Twitter haters of the hashtag Together strong, but also Roman Giertych. It was the patron who asked the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, to “correct the erroneous invitation of the symmetrists, which was sent by MP Nitras”. And as you can see, it ran successfully.
The campus’ decision to remove the “symmetrists” panel sparked outrage among journalists, who said this is what “free media” and “free speech” could look like if the opposition wins the election.

Statement Campus Poland
Campus Polska issued a statement regarding the decision to cancel the “Symmetrists” panel.
The letter published on Twitter read in the first sentence that “From the first edition, Campus Polska Przyszłości does not unite, does not divide. It is a space for open debate and dialogue, which is really missing in Poland.”
We want to emphasize that the purpose of the Campus is to provide all visitors, participants and participants with a sense of respect, safety and equal treatment. Unfortunately, in recent days we have received many signals from participants and guests of the Campus, expressing their dissatisfaction and a sense of unease about the public statements of one of the panelists we previously invited. We have decided that out of a sense of responsibility, our reaction and an effort to talk about the composition of a specific event is necessary
– said the Campus Polska Foundation in a statement.
Then there were slogans about “maintain high standards of debate”, creating a “dialogue space” conducive to “the exchange of views”, requiring “tough decisions to be made”.
We made every effort to ensure that the debate was held on Campus in the spirit of understanding the doubts, the causes of symmetry, but also respecting differing views. So we turned to the creator to solve the problem. Until we reached a joint decision, we did not publish this panel and parts of others, including political events. We are open to diversity of views, but do not tolerate aggression or personal actions. We understand that providing a neutral place to talk is no easy task, especially in these times
— it was in the statement.
Web storm
However, the statement from Campus Polska Trzaskowski did not calm the emotions, on the contrary. The network was again flooded with a wave of reactions.
Do you know such a man “Fundacja Campus Polska” The fact that no one wanted to sign under this name (although it is known who makes the decisions) is most embarrassing here (even more than the content, although it is difficult)
– indicated Lukasz Pawlowski.
The public debate is characterized by the fact that the participants are confronted with points of view that they do not share. No real discourse is an intellectual comfort zone. If someone disagreed with Sroczyński, he could point it out during the debate. Simple
– added Marcin Makowski.
Wrap…. in silverware. The marmots will call
– wrote Marzena Paczuska.
“Providing safety” to the debate participants is nothing more than protecting them from opinions they may not like. Words, even the most unpleasant, do not kill, as Haidt and Lukianoff wrote in the extremely interesting “Pampered mind”
– noted Zuzanna Dąbrowska.
They could not have invited Meller and his interlocutors earlier or issued this statement. This is ridiculous in light of Nitra’s apology to the hateful man for pointing out (which I admit, Nitras did mildly) that he used hate speech
– wrote Rafał Mrowicki.
openness+
– added Krzysztof Berenda.
“It’s a space for open debate and dialogue,” unless someone wants to say something we don’t like and cause “a feeling of discomfort,” then we won’t.
– Jakub Krupa pointed out.
Self-plowing of the Olsztyn Campus Polska event. MP Nitras “stacked” Trzaskowski’s party from editor Meller’s only interesting panel, because he did not like one of the speakers (editor Sroczyński). The leaders of the PO have good censorship tendencies. An important signal for journalists
– took note of the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, Błażej Poboży.
But that since June #SławekApologiseAdam they hide it
– summarizes MP Krzysztof Sobolewski.
