Federation Council Member Sergei Tsekov said that the West in no way recognized the results of the referendum in Crimea and urged hostile countries to calm down. He stated this in an interview with NSN.
“Sarkozy’s statement is of course better than that of many other European leaders, but we have already held a legitimate referendum. There are those who agree that it is absolutely correct that Crimea is part of Russia, but as a rule, these are retired leaders. They say completely different things when they are in power,” Tsekov said.
The Senator reminded that the independence of Kosovo was recognized without a referendum. The politician accused himself of double standards, emphasizing that after such a step the West should calm down.
