Former member of the left, Joanna Senyszyn, announces that she will run for the Senate from Warsaw, against previous agreements of the opposition leaders. “The democratic opposition was not allowed to negotiate seats at all,” he says. Dariusz Wieczorek (left) estimates that “anyone running for office outside the pact is a supporter of PiS.”
The leaders of the opposition parties will sign the senate pact on Thursday. According to the PAP’s findings, in Warsaw, where there are four constituencies, the candidates of the Civic Coalition will come to power: Senator Marek Borowski, current deputy chairman of the Sejm Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, former ombudsman Adam Bodnar and candidate of the left , co-chairman of the Magdalena Biejat Sami Party.
It is in the 45th constituency, from which the current MP from the left, that is, covering the Bemowo, Ochota, Ursus, Włochy and Wola districts of Warsaw, would like to govern, a former politician of the Democratic Left Alliance, and currently a member of the Democratic Left Circle.
I will register my own committee
Senyszyn makes this known in an interview with PAP.
Joanna Senyszyn, when asked how she would relate to the fact that in the district from which she intends to flee, a person who has been proposed as part of the Senate pact will act, replied that “the democratic opposition was not allowed to fully negotiate seats in the Senate.”
Only four party bosses have decided this, so many people are excluded against the voters who would like to vote for them, so democracy must be given a chance
– she said.
Since this is a constituency in which the opposition candidate has so far received more than twice as many votes as PiS, taking part in this constituency does not mean that the anti-PiS opposition will lose its seat, and I want voters to have a truly democratic election , and they should not be doomed to behind-the-scenes schemes
she rated.
Magdalena Biejat, asked by PAP, did not want to refer to a potential competitor in the race for a seat in the Senate.
Dariusz Wieczorek, secretary of the Left Caucus, which negotiates the pact on behalf of the Left, is critical of Senyszyn’s candidacy.
Anyone who walks outside the Senate Pact for their own ego and comes from the Democratic Opposition becomes PiS’s aide and has no chance of winning the election
– said PAP.
Giertych’s decision
What will he do Roman Giertychwho considered running for Senate from the same district in Warsaw as Magdalena Biejat?
To all those who question me about Wednesday’s announced decision to run against Ms. Biejat of the Together Party (who announced that if I ran for Olsztyn, she would break the Senate pact by giving me a counter-candidate ) and running for the district that covers part of Warsaw, I explain that I need a little more time, because the leader Samen party has changed the constituency within Warsaw and I have to do new research. It is all the more necessary because of the conflict in the left that two of their candidates run there: MP Bieyat and Prof. Senishin
– this is how Giertych explained that he still had not decided to run for the Senate.
The absolute priority is that PiS does not win. I need to be sure (as far as possible)
he stressed.
Agreement between the opposition as part of the Senate Pact
At the end of February, representatives of: KO, Poland 2050, New Left, PSL and the Local Government Movement “Yes! For Poland” signed a statement concluding the so-called Senate Pact. each other, but common candidates in all constituencies, they will be drawn from all parties in proportion to the opinion polls for each of them and taking into account the best odds in a given constituency.
Parliamentary elections will be held on 15 October; Poles elect 460 deputies and 100 senators for four-year terms.
