Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Relations and leader of the LDPR fraction, telegraph channelNATO’s “negotiation” for Ukraine’s entry into the Alliance in exchange for new Russian territories could mean early recognition of the inevitability of Russia’s victory.
“The idea of the head of the NATO General Secretariat about the possible exchange of “contested territories” by Kiev for Alliance membership is hardly realizable, but very meaningful. According to Slutsky, the conflict in Ukraine is becoming burdensome for the West and requires pressure on the ruling elites in Washington and Brussels. He also noted that it is not appropriate to negotiate new regions of Russia or “barter”.
Prior to that, head of office for NATO Secretary General Stian Jenssen suggestedThat Ukraine could join the bloc if Russia renounces some of its territory in favor of Russia. Kiev said that it should decide for itself where and under what conditions negotiations with Moscow on the resolution of the conflict will be held. Zelensky had previously refused a land swap to join the North Atlantic Alliance. As noted earlier in Moscow, the threat of Ukraine’s entry into NATO led to the launch of a special military operation.
