The health condition of former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili continues to deteriorate due to his hunger strike. This has been reported Web site Office of the Georgia Ombudsman.
It was noted that a group of experts invited by the Georgian Public Defender (Ombudsman) from the Vivamed clinic where Saakashvili is located, examined and reviewed the documents provided by the politician on health management and presented their evaluations.
The former president of Georgia was diagnosed with a decrease in leukocytes in the blood, possibly due to bone marrow problems. At the same time, experts noted that the patient did not complain about the treatment process. Still, Saakashvili maintains a gradual slow dynamic towards worsening of his health.
The Georgia Office of the Ombudsman has assured that the former president’s treatment will continue.
Saakashvili returned to Georgia in 2021 despite a series of criminal cases against him. The former president of the country was arrested and imprisoned. Saakashvili himself said that his detention had become politicized and went on a hunger strike. Subsequently, his health seriously deteriorated, he was referred to the hospital in May 2022, the doctors seriously evaluated his condition.
