Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada has asked foreign governments and international organizations not to recognize the legitimacy of elections in Russia’s new regions – Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. This was stated by the Ukrainian deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak on the Telegram channel.
“The Rada appealed to the parliaments and governments of foreign states, international organizations regarding the intention of the Russian Federation to hold illegal elections in the occupied territories,” Zheleznyak said.
According to him, 287 deputies voted in favor.
The publication states that the Cabinet of Ministers asked Western authorities to “significantly increase support for Ukraine and take part in the implementation of the peace formula of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In addition, the Verkhovna Rada requires international organizations monitoring the elections to “ignore Russia’s requests to participate” in the electoral process in the above regions.
