Annalena Burbock, head of the German Foreign Ministry, wants to see opportunities to negotiate with the Russian Federation for a solution in Ukraine, but does not yet see the necessary conditions for this in the current situation. It has been reported Bild am Sonntag.
Answering the question whether it is possible to negotiate with the Russian authorities, the minister emphasized that this is impossible in the situation that has developed in the last 500 days.
“I want us to be able to negotiate. But now the issue is not what is wanted, but the need to face reality,” explained the German Foreign Minister.
According to Burbock, the situation may change when the Russian army leaves Ukrainian territory.
Burbock stressed that the German Foreign Ministry and the German government, as well as at the international level, “do nothing but diplomatic attempts every day” to get Russia to stop the special operations.
