In his speech at the regional government meeting, the Chechen leader said, “When the time is up, I will go to the polls again, God willing, and if the people choose, I will continue to work.”
Kadyrov urged citizens not to believe rumors that they want to “discharge” him and appoint someone else in his place. Emphasizing that “no one is being sought” on the spot, the politician stressed that he will not allow “to be needed” to search for someone.
Ramzan Kadyrov has headed the Republic of Chechnya since 2007. In 2021, he broke his own record by winning the election with 99.7% of the vote, according to official figures. Kadyrov’s term expires in 2026.
