The overriding principle of Poland’s migration policy is that the Polish state has the right to decide who is allowed to come to Poland, Deputy Interior and Administration Minister Maciej Wąsik said in the Sejm.
On behalf of PiS parliamentarians, the chairman of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs, Radosław Fogiel, submitted a request for updated information on the influx of migrants to Poland and presentation of current visa and migration policies to ensure Poland’s security.
This is a matter that appears in public space, interests Poland, but is also used by some politicians to deceive our citizens. The subject of compulsory relocation of migrants has been raised, and some of our political opponents are concerned that Poles know that if the main opposition party takes power – as it did in 2015 – they would again agree to flood Poland with illegal migrants. Therefore, a satanic plan appeared in the minds of our political competitors to create a smokescreen on this topic and frighten the Poles with an alleged stream of migrants.
– said Radosław Fogiel in the Sejm.
Public disinformation
He added that we are dealing with false information, confabulation, creating disinformation in the public sphere.
He gave as an example a video that Donald Tusk posted on social media, a short recording in which he claims that the PiS government would download 130,000. migrants, supposedly from Muslim countries, to Poland.
This is the first lie and manipulation
he stressed.
He explained that these 130 thousand. is the number of applications and it does not mean that these people ever came to Poland.
Such statements would cause fear in Poland. It is also hypocrisy because this politician, as President of the European Council, wanted to punish Poland for refusing mandatory relocation
he assessed.
Mix concepts
He recalled that when the Polish government fought migratory pressure at the Belarusian border, Donald Tusk said that these are poor people looking for their place in the world and wanting to admit illegal migrants brought to Poland by Lukashenko.
And now he’s trying to play on people’s emotions by coming to work legally, scaring seasonal workers who come for a period of time
– said Radoslaw Fogiel.
In response to the request, Deputy Minister of the Interior and Administration, Maciej Wąsik, spoke.
He notes that a lot of fake news has appeared in the public space lately.
The first is the confusion of terms, ie mixing illegal immigration with the admission of seasonal workers
he explained.
He recalled that illegal immigration is an influx of foreigners who cross the “green border” illegally, often their identity is unknown, and they choose this route because they cannot legally enter the European Union in any other way.
On the other hand, hiring temporary workers is something completely different
he assessed.
He explained that the EU and Poland need such workers for timely work in agriculture.
Work permits
Another fake is that the government is bringing migrants to Poland.
All work permits are not applied for by the government, but by employers
he noticed.
He explained that the countries were divided into groups: the first are EU countries that do not require permits; countries from which we treat the arrival of people as highly desirable (Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Armenia) and countries from which there is a high risk of migration, where we carry out very extensive verification of people.
He emphasized that the work permit is the first step.
It is requested by the employer, who usually lays off more people than there are jobs, knowing that workers will be laid off in the next stages. Later, these people are controlled by both Polish and international services. If they pass this verification negatively, there is no question of a visa for them
he noticed.
Retakes
He emphasized that the authenticity of documents is also checked – this is done by consuls. And finally, there is a conversation on the basis of which the consul decides whether to issue a visa or not.
He noted that out of 135,000, only 28,000 applications for work permits were issued. visas, ie every 6th applicant received a temporary work visa. The work and duration of the permit are controlled by the border guard.
When exceeded, we do a re-admission
Wax added.
He states that 2.2 thousand people have been readmitted in the past three years. people, and this year already more than 600.
He stressed that there are currently about one million foreigners working in Poland, of which only 2.5% come from countries with an increased risk of migration.
He recalled that Poland respects the treaties and increases spending on border guards, creating a barrier to limit illegal migration from Belarus
330,000 flocked to all of Europe. illegal immigrants, more than 160,000 of them across the Mediterranean
– he said.
